Other terms specified in JARS relate to other types of sampling procedures—for example, use of Markov chain Monte Carlo simulations—and procedures for more complex data analyses, including using Bayesian statistics to conduct cost–benefit analyses or models that are hierarchical in structure.

If you have taken a course in Bayesian statistics, the JARS standards and its terms should be familiar to you. Bayesian statistics are being applied more frequently in the social sciences (see, e.g., Bowden & Loft, 2016; Geary & vanMarle, 2016). Some good resources to help you understand whether they are most suitable for your topic of interest can be found in Dienes (2011), Jackman (2009), Kaplan (2014), and R. B. Kline (2012).

Now, with all of the details of your data analyses laid out, we are ready to pay a little more attention to a few specialized research designs.
